GREELEY, Colo. – Northern Colorado Men’s Basketball put on a show for fans allowed inside Bank of Colorado Arena for the first time since February 2020. UNC defeated Colorado College 93-53 to improve to 3-1 on the year.

The Bears were hot behind the arc again making 15 threes, matching their season-high from two games ago against Hawaii. Eight of those threes came from Dru Kuxhausen. The McNeese State transfer connected on eight of his 14 attempts to lead all players with 24 points.

Fellow newcomer Dalton Knecht joined him in the 20-point club with 20 points and 11 rebounds. It is his first double-double in the Blue & Gold. Knect was the only other Bear to make multiple threes with four.

True to fashion since Steve Smiley joined the UNC staff six years ago the Bears shot well behind the arc and limited their opponent. Northern Colorado shot 51.7% (15-29) while holding the Tigers to 16.7% (4-24).

The Bears never trailed in the game and led by as much as 42.

It was all about the three ball, UNC scored 45 of their 93 points from behind the arc.

Game Notes
– Dru Kuxhausen’s eight made threes are the third most in UNC history trailing only Trent Harris (11 vs Colorado College) and DJ Miles (10 vs Northern Arizona).
– The Bears did a great job sharing the ball with 20 assists on 33 makes.
– Matt Johnson II once again had a strong night scoring 11 points to go with five assists and three rebounds.
– Daylen Kountz once again stuffed the stat sheet with six points, five rebounds, four assists and two steals. The four assists match his career-high.
– Trent Hudgens Jr saw his first action in the Blue & Gold playing seven minutes scoring four points and dishing out three assists.
– UNC continues to swat away opponent shots with a season-high seven blocks. They are now averaging 5.5 a game. Kur Jongkuch led the team with two.

What’s Ahead
Northern Colorado has a big road test ahead of them on Wednesday when they travel to No. 5 Texas. The Longhorns and Bears tip-off at [6:30] MT.

UNC returns home on December 2 to open Big Sky play against Montana State at 6 pm.
