Approaching the middle of the season, the Denver Nuggets are in pure survival mode. Obviously, they’ve had to deal with life without secondary stars such as Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr. for all and most of the season, but injuries and Covid continue to have their way with the Nuggets roster.

However, thanks to the league MVP in Nikola Jokic and some outstanding performances from role players like Facu Compazzo and Will Barton, Denver has put together 3 wins in a row despite having a battered and bruised depth chart.

The Mile High Crew has a big week ahead as they will face a playoff team in Dallas and a title contender in Utah all while still trying to navigate through injuries and Covid protocols. According to Nuggets insider, Harrison Wind of DNVR Nuggets, Monte Morris, Bones Hyland, Jeff Green and Zeke Nnaji are still in health and safety protocols. They’re all out against the Mavs and we will see how it looks on Wednesday when they face the Jazz.

Denver is 18-16 on the season. That’s about where I expected them to hover around without Murray and Porter but to be keeping their heads above water like this with all the OTHER issues, I have to say I am very impressed. Even Michael Malone was out for their game against Houston. Somehow, they are finding a way.

Will they be in the top 4/5 playoff conversation come March when, hopefully, Murray returns? They’ll have to keep piecing together W’s as we start a new year.
