Week one of the pre-season is in the books and what a way to start. For Denver, it was difficult to pick out anything that went wrong in their 33-6 beatdown over the Minnesota Vikings. Drew Lock, Teddy Bridgwater, Javonte Williams, KJ Hamler, Patrick Surtain II…….so many stars shining last Saturday afternoon. Certainly an exciting time for Broncos Country but there’s still 2 more warm up games left and folks, we still are very much in heated QB competition.

Drew Lock won the day. He was poised in the pocket and very accurate going 5/7, 151 yards and 2 TDs including an 80 yard touchdown pass to KJ Hamler. Once Lock sat down in the mid 2nd quarter, the pressure shifted to Bridgewater. However, just like we’ve heard all camp, it’s been nearly impossible for anyone to separate in this battle. Though not as flashy, Teddy was efficient and flat out moved the ball. He ended the day 7/8, 74 yards and a TD. Good news here is both guys looked solid in the first go around.

Now we shift our attention to Seattle. Teddy will get the start this time while Lock comes off the bench. As I’ve said all off-season; if this thing remains 50/50 as Vic Fangio continues to preach, it’s going to Drew. So, unless we see an absolute lopsided performance in this one with Drew struggling big time, look for Lock to go the safe route and take little chances while Teddy, perhaps, might just force the issue in order to stand out.
