Update on University Mask Mandate

Update on University Mask Mandate

Dear Bears,

Thursday morning the University announced a new indoor mask mandate for the entire UNC campus in response to increasing COVID-19 case counts and rising hospitalizations due to the Delta variant. Under this renewed requirement, masks will be required for all individuals on campus while indoors. This includes both Bank of Colorado Arena and all public indoor spaces at Nottingham Field.

Our goal remains to have our fans cheering on the Bears in person at athletic competitions this season. At this time, we do not anticipate any physical distancing requirements or limits on crowd sizes. We are also unsure how long this current renewed mask mandate will remain in effect on our campus.

What I do know is there is great hope and excitement surrounding UNC athletics. Our student-athletes thrive on the energy our fans bring to events. We missed you and your Bear Pride last year. As the seasons begin next week, our operations staff will take all possible steps to ensure your health and safety while attending UNC Athletics’ events and we need you, as loyal Bears, to do your part and comply with this new mandate. We need you in the stands and I hope the small sacrifice of wearing a mask will not keep you from being there to cheer on your Bears.

I look forward to seeing you in your Blue & Gold soon!

Go Bears!
