• For broadcasting quick hits, current averages and career highs on individual players, go to the back page of the notes for a Radio/TV chart that includes that information.
The Leaders
• Colorado State Head Coach Niko Medved (Minnesota, ’97) is in his third season at CSU as head coach with a 32-32 mark and has an 111-119 overall record is in his seventh season as a head coach. Medved is 1-4 all-time against Pac-12 foes (1-2 at CSU).

A Familiar Face In Fort Collins
• While he may be in just his third season in charge of the program, head coach Niko Medved was already a familiar face around Fort Collins and to Ram fans. Medved previously was on the coaching staff from 2007-13 under two different coaches. He was a key part of recruiting players that helped the Rams to four consecutive postseason appearances, the last two in the NCAA Tournament that included a win over Missouri in 2013.
Latest Opening In A LOOOONG Time
• The team was previously scheduled to start the 2020-21 season with the rest of the nation on Nov. 25, but due to CoVID-19, the program was forced to cancel and postpone games until this game against CSU Pueblo.
• This will be the latest start for the program since the 1942-43 season during World War II when CSU did not start until Jan. 8, 1943 with a 35-33 loss at Northern Colorado.
• The most recent home opener later on the calendar than today was the following day at Glenn Morris Field House, where the Rams avenged their loss with a 29-22 win on Jan. 9.
A Quick Look at CSU Pueblo
• Returning three starters and three letterwinners from last season’s 11-17 squad that finished 9-13 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, the Timberwolves were picked to finish ninth in the league’s preseason poll.
• Redshirt-junior guard David Simental is the undoubted leader for CSUP, as he led the team last year in minutes (33.7 mpg), scoring (15.9 ppg – 10th in the RMAC), and free throw percentage (88.5% – tops in the league) in earning Second Team All-RMAC. Simental was was recently named a player to watch in the conference along with senior forward Bryce Sanchious.
History Versus CSU Pueblo
• The Rams have won all six previous meetings, with the most recent a 76-67 victory over the Timberwolves in 2006-07.
• CSU leader Niko Medved has never faced the Timberwolves in his seven years as a head coach.

Medved vs. CSU Pueblo — First Meeting
Improvement Always
• Head coach Niko Medved has had extensive success wherever he has coached, both as a head and an assistant.
• As an assistant coach, he helped turn around the CSU program to improving its win totals from his first year in each successive year, ending in four straight postseason appearances.
• He continued that trend at Furman and Drake, improving both programs’ win totals from the previous year in each of his five seasons as a head coach, finishing his last three years in postseason play.
• In his first year at CSU in 2018-19, he continued that trend, surpassing the previous season’s win totals at CSU, both overall and in Mountain West play.
• This past season, the Rams had nine non-conference wins, surpassing last year’s total of five. The squad has also won 20 games overall, surpassing last year’s total of 12.
• The five-game win streak during the 2020-21 season was the longest for CSU since the Rams won seven straight during 2016-17.
