Men’s Basketball hits the road to face Colorado
UNC men’s basketball travels to Boulder Monday

GREELEY, Colo. – Northern Colorado men’s basketball continues its four games in a week stretch when they had to Boulder on Monday night to face the Colorado. It is UNC’s first road game of the year as they come into the contest 2-0.
Opening Tip
– Northern Colorado improved to 2-0 with a complete team win 83-58 over Regis on Friday.
– Junior Bodie Hume recorded his second straight double-double with 25 points and 10 rebounds.
– Daylen Kountz scored a career-high 17 points in the win adding in five rebounds, two assists and blocks.
– Matt Johnson II matched is career-best assist mark with six of the Bears’ 17 in the win.
– Northern Colorado shot an impressive 59.3% against Regis including 70.8% in the second half.
– UNC held Regis without an offensive rebound leading to a 44-17 rebound margin.
– UNC played all 16 of its players on Friday leading to Marque English II, Jamel Melvin, Connor Creech and Jalen Page making their debut in the Blue & Gold.
– Their is a pair of connections between Northern Colorado and Colorado on the rosters and coaching staffs. Junior Daylen Kountz transfered to UNC this summer from CU. Meanwhile Colorado head coach Tad Boyle coached the Bears from 2006-10.
– The Bears aim to end a nine-game losing streak to Colorado.
– UNC is looking to start the year 3-0 for the first time since 2009-10.
Scouting the Buffaloes
Colorado enters Monday’s game with almost a week’s worth of rest having not played since last Tuesday at No. 12 Tennessee. CU fell to the Vols 56-47.
The Buffs are led by one of the top point guards in the nation in McKinley Wright. He is averaging a team-leading 17.3 points and 4.7 assists per game along with 5.0 rebounds.
What’s Ahead
Northern Colorado has another quick turnaround heading to Denver on Wednesday to take on the Pioneers at 6 pm.
