FARMINGTON, Utah – The Big Sky awards keep piling up for UNC Men’s Basketball junior Bodie Hume. Hume was named to the Big Sky Preseason All-Conference Team on Tuesday morning following Big Sky Freshman of the Year honors in 2018-19 and being a second-team All-Big Sky selection in 2019-20. Now Hume is viewed as one of the best returning players in the conference.

The Sterling, Colorado native averaged 13.9 points and 5.0 rebounds for the Bears in 2019-20. He also led the team with 30 blocks.

“Our entire Bears family is really excited for Bodie and his selection to the Preseason All-Big-Sky Team,” head coach Steve Smiley said. “He’s certainly worthy of the award, and we can’t wait to see what Bodie will be able to do this year on the court. He’s put a tremendous amount of work into his craft in the offseason and he should have an excellent year for us on the court.”

He ended up scoring in double figures in 23 games last season including five performances of 20-plus points. Hume scored a career-high 26 points against Portland State.

Joining Hume on the Big Sky Preseason All-Conference team were Jacob Davison and Kim Aiken Jr of Eastern Washington, Jubrile Belo of Montana State, Cameron Shelton of Northern Arizona and Michael Steadman of Montana. Davidson earned the Preseason MVP honors.

First-year head coach Steve Smiley, Hume and the rest of the Bears start the 2020-21 campaign on November 27 in Kansas City, Missouri in the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum Tipoff Classic against Southeast Missouri State.
