Colorado State and The Brandr Group Launch Group Licensing for Student-Athletes

The partnership with The Brandr Group allows for the collective use of student-athletes’ NIL in licensing and marketing programs.

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Colorado State Athletics and The Brandr Group (TBG) have established a group licensing agreement for the university’s student-athletes covering all the Rams’ 16 sports.

Joining an exclusive list of Division I TBG partners, Rams student-athletes now have the opportunity to combine their Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) with official trademarks and logos as part of the group licensing program.

“Since the beginning of the NIL era, we have consistently looked to create positive opportunities for our student-athletes to capitalize on their Name, Image, and Likeness,” said Director of Athletics Joe Parker. “Partnering with The Brandr Group is another positive step for Colorado State’s NIL initiative. We are excited to give our students another important tool to benefit from their profiles while they are here in Fort Collins, a community which is passionate about our programs and full of opportunity to work with world-class businesses.”

The partnership with The Brandr Group allows for the collective use of student-athletes’ NIL in licensing and marketing programs, co-branded with the Colorado State University logos and marks. Student-athletes will have the option to voluntarily join a group licensing program. TBG will facilitate group licensing opportunities on behalf of the student-athletes, and the program does not limit individual NIL rights. Potential licensees interested in learning more should contact Rick Perko at TBG.

TBG, a brand management, marketing and licensing agency, will manage and administer the program as well as develop licensing opportunities on behalf of the student-athletes. With decades of collective management experience for some of the world’s largest brands, TBG also manages the group rights program for the NFL, NBA and MLB players’ associations in the college space.

The company will develop and facilitate group licensing opportunities on behalf of current student-athletes. Some examples of group licensing include athlete’s inclusion in trading card programs, video games, and co-branded jerseys, which would include the student-athlete’s name and number, as well as Colorado State University trademarks and logos.

“Group licensing deals are ushering in a new era of opportunity for college athletics, and we’re thrilled to be able to partner with Colorado State University,” said Rick Perko, Vice President of Program Development at TBG. “Through this new agreement, Rams student-athletes will be able to benefit from their NIL through co-branded opportunities across Colorado State’s merchandising and sponsorship portfolio. This will open up new doors for them to financially benefit from their NIL, while also creating new avenues for fan engagement.”

While no specific timeline is set, fans can soon expect to be able to purchase official Colorado State University merchandise, including team jerseys, with the name and number of their favorite Rams if the student-athletes have joined the respective group licensing program and as soon as TBG enters into agreements with applicable Colorado State University trademark licensees.
