CSU Earns Solid 82-72 Win At Nevada Tuesday Night

The Rams outscored the Wolf Pack 24-3 off turnovers in tying the program’s best 21-game record

RENO, Nev. – Colorado State grabbed the lead early in the game and made it stand to earn an 82-72 Mountain West win at Nevada Tuesday night. With their first victory in Reno since 2015, the Rams improved to 18-3 overall and 8-3 in the conference, while the Wolf Pack fell to 9-13 on the year and 3-8 in the league.
 
The teams exchanged early baskets before junior forward David Roddy’s layup put the Rams up 9-8 with just over five minutes gone in the game. From there, CSU went on a 12-4 run to build a nine-point lead that eventually grew to 10 at 36-26 late in the first half. The Rams went into the break up five, 36-31, and eventually built the lead to 18 at 59-41 with [12:26] to play. Nevada was able to cut it to six in the final minute of the game before CSU hit the final four free throws for the 10-point win.
 
Colorado State finished the game 51.0 percent (25-of-49) from the floor, including 45.5 percent (10-of-22) from the three-point line. The Rams also were solid at the charity stripe, hitting 81.5 percent (22-of-27) of their attempts. Nevada was 55.1 percent (27-of-49) from the field and 37.5 percent (9-of-24) outside the arc. CSU won the boards 27-23, giving up just one offensive board to Nevada.
 
CSU had three players in double figures, led by Roddy with 29 points on 11-of-14 field goal attempts (4-of-5 from three). Senior guard Kendle Moore had season-highs of 22 points and four steals, while junior guard Isaiah Stevens chipped in 13 points and four assists. Nevada was led by Desmond Cambridge Jr.’s 36 points.
 
STAT OF THE GAME
• Colorado State made the most of the 14 forced Nevada turnovers, outscoring the hosts 24-3 off those miscues.
 
NOTES
• Nevada leads the series 16-12, including 11-5 in Reno.
• The 18-3 record tied the 2014-15 squad for the best 21-game record in program history.
• CSU is now 13-1 this season when leading at halftime and 8-0 when scoring at least 80 points.
• The 24 points off turnovers was the second highest this year for the Rams.
• For Roddy, it was his ninth 20+ point game of the season and 15th of his career.
• For Moore, it was the fifth 20+ point game of his CSU career.

• The Rams will come back to the friendly confines of Moby Arena for its only home game in this five-game stretch to host Fresno State on Fri., Feb. 11 at 7:30 p.m. MT.
