Mattio announces Marquelle Dent as Assistant Coach

GREELEY, Colo. – Northern Colorado Women’s Basketball and head coach Kristen Mattio have announced the hiring of Marquelle Dent as Assistant Coach.
 
As the third member of Mattio’s staff, Dent will make her way north to Greeley after spending two years as the graduate assistant for Regis University in Denver.

“We are extremely excited that Marquelle is joining our staff,” said Mattio. She brings a great amount of experience after a stellar college career at Wyoming, playing professionally in Portugal, and dominating at one of the top high school programs in the state of Colorado in Regis Jesuit H.S. Marquelle’s mentorship to our players who desire to play at the next level professionally as well as preparing them for success at the collegiate level is invaluable. She is a leader, teacher and a winner and all of those attributes will propel her to be a great coach on our staff!”
 
Dent also boasts coaching experience with Cheyenne Central High School in Wyoming and with the Laramie County Golden Eagles Women’s Basketball program.
 
Prior to her time with the Rangers, Dent was a standout player at the University of Wyoming. A native of Laramie, Dent was a two-time All-Mountain West First Team Selection and twice appeared on the conference’s All-Defensive Team. In 2015, Marquelle was named to the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Division I Coaches Honorable Mention All-America Team. She also etched her name in the Cowgirls’ record book, becoming the only player in UW Women’s Basketball history with 1,000 points, 500 assists and 175 steals.

“I am extremely excited to join Coach Mattio at the University of Northern Colorado,” said Dent. “She has done so well leading her programs to success over the years and I am looking forward to learning and working with Coach Mattio as well as Camille and Geoff. I am very grateful for this opportunity and cannot wait to get started building relationships and coaching these talented young women!”
 
Upon graduating from Wyoming in 2016 with a degree in Communications, Dent played one season of professional ball for Madeira, Portugal.
