GREELEY, Colo. – Northern Colorado Men’s Basketball’s Daylen Kountz will return to the team for the 2022-23 season. The Denver native had entered the NBA Draft process but has decided to return for his final year in the Blue & Gold.
Kountz finished the 2021-22 season as the 10th best scorer in the nation averaging 21.2 points per game leading him to multiple honors. He was a unanimous first team All-Big Sky selection, and an NABC and USBWA All-District honoree. Kountz also earned All-Tournament honors three times last year at the Outrigger Resorts Rainbow Classic, the Big Sky Tournament and College Basketball Invitational.
The returning senior scored the second-most points in a single season for the program, with 786 points, and the fourth most in Big Sky history passing current NBA star Damian Lillard. For his career, he has scored 1,392 points, 1,097 of those as a Bear.
Kountz added 4.1 rebounds and 2.6 assists on top of his elite scoring last season.
He returns alongside third team All-Big Sky selection Matt Johnson II and Dalton Knecht to a team that won 22 games and advanced to the Big Sky Tournament finals and CBI semifinals.
