GREELEY, Colo. – David Hoage has been a menace to opponents all season long. He once again did so on Saturday. The sophomore recorded two more sacks to bring his season total to 10.5 on Saturday. That makes him the program’s Division I leader for sacks in a season passing Christian Sarmento who had 10.0 in 2008.

Hoage finished the day with eight tackles, 3.0 of them for a loss of 15 yards. He now has 20.0 tackles for a loss on the year.

He was not the only Bear defender to record some nice numbers, seniors Jerone Jackson and Eddie Gonzales III also produced in their final game at Nottingham Field. Jackson led the team with 12 tackles. Meanwhile, Gonzales III matched Hoage with two sacks and recorded five tackles overall.

Northern Colorado recorded five sacks on the day with the final one coming from Hadyn Steffens. On the other side, the offense didn’t allow a sack Saturday. An impressive feat against a Montana team that came into Saturday leading the Big Sky.

Montana jumped out to a quick start scoring a touchdown twice in the first quarter while Northern Colorado’s first two possessions ended in an interception and on downs. With UM ahead they stayed in control of the game the rest of the way.
