After perhaps the strangest, most disappointing loss of the weekend, locally, the Colorado State Rams will try to put the loss to Utah State behind them when Boise State comes to Canvas Stadium this Saturday.

With a chance to win the game in the closing seconds, the Rams field goal unit stormed the field to attempt a game winning FG. However, because the Rams produced a 1st down the clock would stop until the ball was placed at the new line of scrimmage, allowing CSU plenty of time to spike the football and take their time on the final scoring attempt. Somewhere that message was lost and the Rams FG unit took matters into their own hands, forcing the offense to sprint off the field in confusion. Needless to say, the kick was no good and Head Coach Steve Addazio found himself answering yet another list of questions about his special teams, the unit he insists on coaching.

With the loss, the Rams missed a prime opportunity to place themselves firmly atop the Mountain West Mountain. Air Force, who was in second place behind Colorado State, lost to San Diego State, dropping them to 3rd place while Utah State leaped over both the Falcons and the Rams to grab the tie breaking lead in the division.

The Broncos were off last week with a bye and are no doubt eager to get back to work. They’ve had a very challenging schedule thus far with losses to UCF, Oklahoma State, Nevada and Air Force. Normally the class of the conference, Boise State has a lot of work to do if they want to climb back on top in the MWM.

CSU, despite the start to the season, has big goals in mind and they can still earn a bowl game bid and even a trip to the MW championship but they have to pull off the upset at home to a team they have NEVER beaten.
