FARMINGTON, Utah – A new year brings a new look to the Big Sky Conference as Southern Utah departs leading to a new 18-game round robin format for the men’s basketball regular season in 2022-23. The conference released its schedule on Thursday.

Northern Colorado looks to repeat last year’s success when they open the Big Sky season on the road at Weber State on December 29 and follow it up with a trip to Pocatello on New Year’s Eve.

The conference home opener will be a rematch of the Big Sky title game when Montana State comes to Greeley on January 5. The Bears make a return trip to MSU on February 4.

While the early portion of conference play is road heavy, it leads to a favorable home finish for UNC with five of the final seven games inside Bank of Colorado Arena. The 2022-23 regular season ends on February 27 when Idaho State comes to town.

The Big Sky Men’s and Women’s Tournament will now occur congruently in Boise, Idaho running from March 4-8 with the championship game on the ESPN family of networks. The top six teams will earn a first round bye.

Northern Colorado returns a dynamic duo of All-Big Sky selections from last year in Daylen Kountz and Matt Johnson II. The duo plus the rest of the Bears look to reach the Big Sky title game again in 2022-23. UNC’s non-conference schedule will be released later on this summer.
