Athletics Update on University Mask Mandate

Athletics Update on University Mask Mandate

Dear Rams,

As you may have seen, this morning the University announced a renewed indoor mask mandate on campus as a response to increasing COVID-19 cases due to the Delta variant. While we are still learning about how this mandate might affect our operations this fall and beyond, I want you to know that your participation with Colorado State Athletics is essential!

Having fans in our arenas is quintessential to our mission. Our student-athletes deserve to have you there cheering them on, and you deserve to be there cheering on your Rams. Another season of empty arenas is simply unfathomable to me.

Under the current campus mandate, masks will be required for all individuals on campus while indoors, and that includes Moby Arena and indoor spaces at Canvas Stadium. I hope that your passion and love for your Rams will not be dissuaded by the need to comply with this mandate and help bring down our community transmission rate. If it simply is not an option for you at this time, let’s talk first. If last year proved anything to me, it was that college sports fans unequivocally make a difference. The atmosphere is simply not the same without you.

We do not presently know how long this mask mandate will apply, and we do not anticipate any physical distancing requirements or limits on crowd sizes. We will keep you informed of any changes as they occur.

We are on the verge of some amazing things, and it’s going to take all of us to band together, support our Rams, and protect our community.

Go Rams!
