Rocky Mountain Showdown Extended Through 2038; All Games on Campus

The new agreement adds six games to the series and keeps the games in on-campus sites.

Director of Athletics Joe Parker will host a 1:30 p.m. media availability today: https://zoom.us/j/97643529496

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Colorado State and Colorado have agreed to extend the Rocky Mountain Showdown through at least 2038 as the schools have added six on-campus games to the series, the programs announced on Tuesday.

“For both fan bases, this is a premiere game any time it’s on the schedule, and it was important to both Rick George and I to get this done,” said Colorado State Director of Athletics Joe Parker. “It was also essential to get the Showdown back on campus. College football is best enjoyed in on-campus venues, and I’m thrilled we were able to get that done for fans of both teams for the foreseeable future.”

The new six-games extension adds to two remaining games already on the schedule for the Showdown.

Colorado State will travel to Boulder on Sept. 16, 2023, and the Rams will host the Buffs in Canvas Stadium for the first time on Sept. 14, 2024. Colorado was scheduled to come to Fort Collins in 2020 – their last trip to the Choice City was in 1996 – but the Covid-19 pandemic forced the cancellation of that game.

SIX-GAME SERIES ADDITIONS

·         Sept. 15, 2029 – Fort Collins

·         Sept. 14, 2030 – Boulder

·         Sept. 17, 2033 – Boulder

·         Sept. 16, 2034 – Fort Collins

·         Sept. 19, 2037 – Boulder

·         Sept. 11, 2038 – Fort Collins

The additions also continue a strong slate of non-conference scheduling with Autonomy 5 opponents as the Rams have games ahead against Vanderbilt, Iowa, Michigan, Washington State, Texas, Texas Tech, Wisconsin, and Arizona.
