Game of the Week – Broncos @ Jets

Game of the Week – Broncos @ Jets

10/1/2020

Denver Broncos (0-3) @ New York Jets (0-3)

Ok, it’s not exactly “game of the week” material but make no mistake about it, the loser of this one will face big changes.  If the Jets lose, head coach Adam Gase is likely done.  If the Broncos lose, they won’t fire their head coach, Vic Fangio, but the talks will certainly heat up and draw more focus to Broncos GM, John Elway, and his failures over the past few seasons.  So, it’s a battle of the bads with a lot on the line.

If Denver wants to win, they must get production from RB Melvin Gordon and  TE Noah Fant early.  Brett Rypien is getting his first career start but if Gordon and Fant can step up for him early, Denver should be able to open things up as the game progresses.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Broncos are running out of stars.  Von Miller and Jurrell Casey are both done for the season while  A.J. Bouye is still out so what little studs this team has left need to produce.    I look for safeties Justin Simmons and Kareem Jackson to step up and lead this team to its first win.  With so many injuries crippling this group, output from team leaders and stars is an absolute must.

Should be interesting to see who survives the first week of October.
