2021 SPRING FOOTBALL SCHEDULE ANNOUNCED

 

The Big Sky Conference and UNC Football announced their 2021 spring football schedule on Wednesday FARMINGTON, Utah – The long wait is over at last, well sort of. First-year head coach Ed McCaffrey finally has a date for his debut. The Big Sky Conference released the 2021 spring football schedule on Wednesday that features six conference games with a pair of byes built for weeks four and eight, just in case a game needs to be rescheduled. The Ed McCaffrey Era officially begins in Moscow, Idaho against the University of Idaho on February 27. It will be a little over 14 months since McCaffrey took over the UNC football program before he ever coaches a game. His home debut comes a week later against Southern Utah on March 6. The Bears will also host Idaho State (March 27) and Northern Arizona (April 10) at Nottingham Field while traveling to a pair of 2019 FCS playoff teams in Montana State (March 13) and Weber State (April 3) during the spring campaign. The season-opener in Moscow will not only be Coach McCaffrey’s debut but UNC football’s first-ever trip to the Kibbie Dome. UNC played four of its six opponents in 2019, defeating both Idaho and Idaho State. At this time it is still to be determined if fans will be able to attend UNC Football games this spring. UNC Athletics continues to monitor and follow all local and NCAA guidelines in regards to COVID-19 and will collaborate with campus, local and state officials to determine event attendance with the safety of student- athletes, staff, attendees and the campus community in mind. Northern Colorado concluded its fall camp at the end of October and will return to the practice field in January to prepare for the spring.
